we talked about the gender difference when it was sarah palin with joe biden, and this time around we're talking the age game. >> exactly. he has to be wise and knowledgeable and engaging without looking, you know, kond sending or in some way talking down to congressman ryan. congressm congressman ryan is a formidable figure. he has a lot of command of facts and figures. the democratic camp hopes he'll get lost in weeds and vice president biden can relate to his audience than congressman ryan. that's really up in the air. >> what about the fact in -- i think it's quite clear you have the supporters of the president obama who are thirsting for what they say is a push back on quote-unquote lies from paul ryan, from mitt romney that they really are salivating for this aggressive push back. does biden need to do that, for example, if the $718 billion at the romney/ryan ticket claims is being stolen, i believe it was their word at one point in time, from medicare given to obama care, does biden, vice president biden have to really like put the hold up, wait a minute, and go in on congressman

also, you know, for john mccain to be talking about someone wrecking their legacy he gave us sarah palin. the positive thing i will say to balance about that about senator mccain he did not go into the racial suer in his campaign the way the romney folks have. all the push back against the powell endorsement four years ago came from the far right, i debated pat buchanan on "hardball." rush limbaugh playing the race card. mccain wouldn't go there. you have a romney co-chair being one of the first people on national television to say that this is all about race. so you have to understand that black people are the real racists now according to the republican party and white people voting for romney god fored by you say any whites are voting for romney because he's white that is just reboatent. >> i would add like what sununu said was not a genius stroke of dog whistling but the people who are happy to talk about john sununu today are the obama campaign. >> and worth noting he issued an apology saying colin powell is a friend and respect the endorsement decision he made and do not doubt it w

now, when biden went up against sarah palin four years ago, she had an advantage in that nobody thought she could string a sentence together. now they're much more evenly matched. everybody knows paul ryan is a capable debater. last week during the presidential debate, romney had that advantage because everybody expected obama to win. so the expectations are more even in this case and that should benefit the incumbent. >> i want to bring in james clyburn. always good to have you on the program. good amonmorning, congressman. do you do p 90 x with paul ryan in the house gym? >> no, i don't use the house gym much. and i have not seen the pictures. but i understand he works out a whole lot, even run marathons. >> seriously let's talk about the debate. you're a good sport. your colleague chris van holland is helping him to prep, joe biden. what's his strategy tonight, will he try to land some blowses so some? >> i hope he would just be joe. i know skrjoe biden very well, i can tell you paul ryan is no match for joe biden. >> here's the critique from the huffington "post." ryan is always sur
